Description

Sona Jobarteh was born into one of the five principal Kora-playing Griot families from West Africa and has broken the tradition by becoming the first female to become a professional virtuoso on the Kora. Sona is a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist and plays guitar, piano, cello and harpsichord. She experiments with tunings and instruments to create variations of the traditional versions of West African music.
